Бойчиновци (Boychinovtsi) - Chapter 3

Since I mentioned the garden in the previous post, I might as well show a few photos of it. The importance of the family garden to most Bulgarians who reside in small towns and villages cannot be overemphasized. Not only does it provide them with fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the summer months, it provides the ingredients for jar after jar of preserved fruits and vegetables for the fall, winter, and early spring.

The garden on May 25th.

And a third.

Tomatoes, tomatoes, and more tomatoes.

Sweet peppers.

Grapes for making rakia.

Shelves in the cellar ... stocking up for winter.

Also in the cellar, a barrel full of homemade wine.
